Installation Notice:
Before setting up GPS re-beam systems, it is important to consider:
A GPS re-radiator consists of an external antenna, a connection cable, an amplifier and a radiating indoor antenna. The external antenna receives the GPS signals from satellites and transmits them through the cable to the radiating indoor antenna. Here, these are then beamed back into the rooms where a GPS signal is needed for testing, demonstration or maintenance purposes.
1) The signal in the rooms cannot be used for navigation inside the building – of course, it will always reach the position of the outdoor antenna, then a positive feedback is created. This will make the system functional. In addition, the resulting over-revved signal strength can cause interference outside the building.
2) The steel from the indoor antenna must not reach the outside world. The limit at 30 mDistance is –140dBm. Caution should be exercised with buildings with wooden walls or with many windows. If there is a door or (e.g. in a hangar), the re-radiator may want to be turned off while the door or gate is open.
